Hello, my psychiatrist wants me to take risperidone, I have heard a lot of horror stories with regards to the side effects such as extreme weight gain and even breast swelling and lactation when not pregnant.
i am very reluctant to take it, has anyone here got any experience with risperidone , either good or bad?

Hi I’ve been on it, off and on, over a few years. It did help. Made me quite foggy headed to begin with, and I was better with small dose changes rather than big ones. I didn’t have any of the possible bad side effects. Hope you feel better soon.

I've been taking risperidone for around 15 months. Had a bit of a dry mouth at first, but no other side effects !

Hi thanks for replying , I feel a little bit more inclined to try it, I couldn’t find any positive experiences at all , I’m already paranoid but maybe a bit less fearful of trying a new medicine now.

I'm on a low dose as I get some psychotic symptoms when my depression is bad (and despite trying several medications, it's never that good).

Been on it several years now, very stable, and have even lost 30kg while taking it! Really been a sanity saver for me. I take 1mg morning and evening.

A sanity saver sounds very appealing, exactly what I’m in dire need of.
