Self Loathing

Posted on here before and been really helpful for me. Just wanted any advice on how to get over self loathing? I mean absolutely hating yourself how you look, act etc.
Due to traumatic events in childhood and adulthood. How do you learn to love yourself again? Due to hopefully start talking therapy in jan and am on antidepressants but my self loathing effects everything in my life and I’m worried I will never get over it.
Any positive stories would be great.
will not even buy myself clothes as I’m convinced I look abnormal in everything.

@Ilovemycatalot - so many of us do this!!

It can help to think - would I speak to a friend like this? Just to give yourself a realisation that you are being so harsh on yourself.

For me it has helped to gain more awareness of my thoughts which is the CBT I guess. Realising that I’m going down the same bad thought path and trying to send my thoughts in a different direction. Just thinking ‘I don’t want to feel like that’ can help a bit.

It sounds like your self-esteem might be quite low. Is there a friend that you could go clothes shopping with and help you to pick out a few bits? Anything to make the situation a bit easier.

Thanks @Squiggles23 I have been clothes shopping with my sister but find it so stressful as I hate everything I try on. Think that is my mind playing tricks on me but I can’t bear to look at myself in the mirror it’s that bad.
