Hi everyone hope your all well. Just looking for some advice on here. I started taking sertaline 3 weeks ago am on day 22 and feeling a lot better little bit more energetic and mind is a lot more calmer. But the only side effect am suffering from is terrible insomnia since starting at and because of that I feel like am going mad like tired all day. Anyone else suffered from this and does it go away? I take mines at 8pm to sleep through the side effects it can make me dizzy but it's the opposite am not sleeping at all

Hey - I have been Sertraline and come off. I found the first 4-6 weeks to be the most challenging and a lot of the more extreme side effects wore off after that. My sleep drastically improved after that! Hope this helps, I found sertraline to be great and came off it after a year or so! Best of luck with it x

I take it in the morning to avoid the insomnia, it was so bad otherwise. Hopefully the other side effects will alleviate for you soon.

I took it in the morning too.

I've been taking sertraline for about 5 months now. I take it in the morning but I am still really struggling with insomnia. It's not quite as bad as it was at the beginning but still pretty debilitating. But the sertraline is working really well for the depression I had so I am reluctant to stop. Although soon I'll be depressed again through exhaustion I think!

I don't understand how a antidepressant which is suppose to relax your brain and hopefully put you to sleep is the other way around insomnia.!! The only reason am not taking it in the morning is because am still getting mild side effects and I have to do 2 different school runs and one college run so don't want risk driving and feeling dizzy.

My dh was taking sertraline in the evening and his insomnia was awful, it's been so much better since dosing in the morning.

@Vilt I can imagine because am extremely exhausted from insomnia and today it wasn't a great day. I also take co codomol for arthritis they usally help me sleep aswell even they stopped working am wide awake all night and if I do sleep for a hour I get the most vivid crazy dreams.!

I don’t take mine after 3ish! I aim to take it in the morning but if I forget there’s a cut off or I won’t sleep. The dizziness should be short term, is it still bad?
