Hi, I am experiencing what I think is called Pure O, I have thoughts of loosing control and becoming insane, what if I harm someone I love, what if I get sick with a deadly illness, does this sound like ocd? I already suffer with depression and it’s making me feel 10 times worse, scared if I go to my gp that they will think Im mental or crazy😢can anyone give me any advice please?

I have pure OCD mostly about the horrendous ways I will die or bad things happening that are pretty irrational. I also have severe anxiety most about my health. Your doctor will not think you are crazy. Go and see them and see what they can do. Most likely medication and therapy. You have my sympathy. Its debilitating.

Thank you so much for replying to me I really appreciate it, I haven’t been fully diagnosed with ocd but I have ADHD and depression, these thoughts started on different things then the thoughts kind of change if that makes sense to you, thank you for sharing it makes me feel a little less alone🩷xx

Honestly . Your not alone. It is horrible. I question my own sanity everyday. I can't do normal things b cause my intrusive thoughts tell me bad things will happen if I do. I've not conquered my OCD and anxiety at all so I'm not in a position to be giving advice really! I just didn't want no one to reply and make you feel alone with this. I'm sure others will b along soon who also can sympathize xx

Look at the OCD UK website, maybe ring their helpline, they're brilliant.

Thank you so much, it’s just the fear of loosing control that is scaring me so much, as this is the last thing I would ever want to do😢

I can’t recommend CBT too highly. My brother has OCD, CBT literally saved his life.

Blue145 · 06/12/2023 03:17

Thank you so much for replying, did he get it through the NHS? Xx

Yes he did. Where we live you can refer yourself but there is a waiting list.

Blue145 · 06/12/2023 03:25

Hopefully will be the same for me, hope your brother is coping better now🩷
