Promethazine

DS has been prescribed promethazine by CAMHS to try and take the edge off his anxiety. Has anyone tried this before and found it beneficial?

it’s basically an anti histamine that makes you feel drowsy and is usually given to help with sleep. Apart from making me drowsy it did nothing for anxiety.

DD used it for quite a while when other things weren't strong enough to counteract the anxiety stopping her getting to sleep. Tended to give her a sleep hangover though. On rare occasions she still needs it we use half a pill now.

Oh god they gave me this stuff when we went on honeymoon (multi destination across Europe) to help with travel sickness.
There are entire days of traveling I literally cannot remember, it KNOCKED me out 😂
Thank god for my DH keeping hold of me and getting us on/off trains. It was fab!
