When is it time to switch antidepressants?

Hi all,

I’ve been on 50mg sertraline since the start of September this year, have tried to up the dosage but anymore than 50 seems to disagree with my body. I feel marginally better than I did then but still getting a lot of negative/intrusive thoughts. Should I try another antidepressant? I’m taking 10mg propranolol alongside which seems to help a little. I can function through the day but feel like I’m just existing and not really living, don’t look forward to anything, just wait each day for the intrusive thoughts to not be there. Any help/advice? Thanks

Tricky one, anecdotally I think some people do take longer to respond/feel the full benefit of ADs but I think even then my suggested cut off would be 3 months max.

Have you discussed with your GP? I think I you should make an appointment to discuss options.

FWIW I think in your shoes I would be tempted to try another drug.
