Tonight I cooked my family a really nice meal. DS1 helped me and ds2 played happily in the garden making mud pies while we cooked. It took an hour and a half which is ridiculous amount of time to spend on a mid-week meal with two small children but it was so nice for dh to walk in the door and find a gorgeous dinner and two happy (if not mud-covered by then) children and a relaxed wife. I know its not a big deal by most people's standards who probably do this effortlessly every night but it feels good for me so I thought I'd share it

Good for you MM!

It is lovely when you have moments like this. I love them and I know DH looks forward to them.

Enjoy today!

That's fab. Little things are SO important. At the risk of sounding patronising, (don't mean to be) well done for doing this. And well done for giving yourself a bit of a pat on the back x

It's those moments that make you feel "I can do this" and "I AM a grown-up!".

And we all need those moments!

aww thanks guys, your posts have made it feel even better. I'll just enjoy this warm glow for the evening. The best part was the boys even liked the meatballs so we then had a really relaxed meal as well
