Setraline side effects experiences

I'm really interested to hear from anyone who's been prescribed setraline and what side effects they experienced.

I have been on 50mg for a month now. I'm now experiencing really bad dizziness, every single day. Mornings when I wake are very bad. I went to the doctor on Tuesday who told me I've got labyrinthitis and I've been signed off for two weeks. Not ideal as I'm self employed. But, I am genuinely struggling to get through the day so for the last 3 days have done as was told - nothing.

I know it sounds stupid but I didn't relate the starting the setraline and this awful dizzy feeling until last night. My doctor didn't relate the two either directly. Mentioned it but dismissed it and in my appointment I just lapped up everything I was told and didn't question it. But I'm lying here feeling like my head is spinning and thinking I could still be in the same place this time next week if this is actually a side effect of the setraline. I don't have a follow up appointment booked until next Thursday.

I'm tempted to come off them as feeling like this is so much worse than what I was put on them for in the first place. Something inside of me is saying it's not labyrinthitis as I was told.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who's had side effects on setraline and what they were. Did you take control yourself?

No experience myself but one of my close friends had a similar experience but it only lasted for a couple of weeks, I'd ask to try something else if it's still persisting by the time your next appointment comes round.

Hope you're feeling better soon 💐

Sorry to hear you struggling on Sertraline. We had the same worries as you when DS was put on it 2yrs ago and there are loads of threads on here about people's experiences with it. DS was one of the lucky ones and seems to suffer from dry mouth only. He is on a high dose of 125mg, however a few weeks ago he forgot his meds, didn't use it for about 2 days and complained of feeling 'dizzy'. I guess this was a withdrawal symptom but Dizzyness however, IS a side effect of using Sertraline including other numerous symptoms. I think the advice usually is to push on with it and eventually the symptoms calm down but i would pop into a pharmacy and ask advice if you're in doubt.

Thank you both.

A week just feels like a very very long time away when I have young kids and have been told not to work either. I'm doing the bear minimum and still feel no better.

It's so unlike me to do nothing and I just want to take control somehow.

Yes I had some dizziness when starting but it did not last long. My main side effect now quite a few months in is vivid dreams.
