The future feels scary

My mental health has been bad for a long time (am in my 30s).

I look to the future and think it will bring more pain, loss and disappointment.

It's not just my actual life though. It's the world too. It feels like everything is getting worse.

Can someone give any advice?

Sorry to hear you’re feeling this way. What you describe could be quite a normal almost everyday feeling for a lot of people given that there are some seriously crap things going on in the world. But if these feelings are impacting your life more broadly and interfering with your enjoyment and participation in things then it could be a sign of depression.

There is an nhs depression assessment questionnaire you can find by googling if you wanted to see how you measure against that.

You could probably benefit from not consuming too much current affairs and stepping up your self care. Good luck OP, you deserve to feel hope and optimism x
