Evening

My anxiety is crushing me. I’m having therapy but lady suggested trying anti depressants again which I swore at one time I wouldn’t after having a bad time with them.

I’ve tried several citalopram, done nothing for mood after 5 months stopped. Sertraline, wasn’t on them long enough tbh. Fluxotine made me very suicidal and then Venlafaxine. No never ever again.

Thinking of Escitalopram maybe. Going to ring GP tomorrow.

Tell me what helped you? My anxious thoughts are ruining my life

Keeping everything crossed for you.

did they explain you might feel worse in the first few days? I had an excellent doctor when first diagnosed decades ago but not sure how much attention anyone gets these days.

MrsTaytodarling · 09/11/2023 21:29

Delighted you started them. They changed my life....and if in 2 weeks you don't feel a huge difference, get upped to 10mg and so on up until 20mg.

Blueeveryday · 09/11/2023 22:45

@EmmaEmerald

Please do 😬 had an bout of dread/anxiety about 1 hour after taking it but I need to remember that’s to be expected. I just bloody hope they work.

@MrsTaytodarling thank you. Glad they helped you. Was it anxiety you had also? I’m desperate these help me. Yes GP told me to double my dose in 2 weeks time.

@blueeveryday yes, crippling anxiety I couldn't function

Pussygaloregalapagos · 09/11/2023 23:02

Valium. Mongs you out though.

catin8oots · 09/11/2023 23:04

I've been on 20mg of escitalopram a day for the last 10 years. Tried all the others. Absolute game changer.

Cas112 · 09/11/2023 23:06

This 100% it's the best thing I have taken in regards to my anxiety and depression but it did mess with my sex drive

fluffy2buffy · 09/11/2023 23:28

The biggest thing that has helped me was going for a short time of no worries or stress and listening to myself still with nothing to worry about but trying to find something to be anxious about. I thought the stress came from the worry but it doesn't it comes from I believe being in a long term state of high alert.

Oh no, did you have insomnia before?

I took the higher dose of the new meds this morning and burst into tears within an hour. It's not the first time so although I have a lot of stress going on, I do wonder if it's linked. There's something about it....when an incident is linked to a pill, you can sort of tell?

ManchesterLu · 10/11/2023 10:57

Sertraline has worked wonders for me, and not a high dose either. It's crazy how much it's helped me chill out. I'm not perfect, and could probably do with raising the dose, but I am a million times better than I used to be, and I can get through daily life now.

hamstersarse · 10/11/2023 11:00

Is your therapist helping you understand the source of your anxiety?

Blueeveryday · 10/11/2023 11:34

@hamstersarse we are working on it. Haven’t got to the root cause yet unfortunately but we will.

@ManchesterLu I am glad you have got relief. If these do not work eventually I might give sertraline a try again. They has to be one out there that works for everyone surely
