Sertraline 3rd time around - can it take longer?

Hi everyone!

I’ve found myself back on sertraline for the 3rd time, after a random bout of insomnia which made my anxiety spiral.

I’ve been on 50mg for 7 weeks now and while my sleep is far better, and I am generally feeling better and brighter, anxiety is still very much here. It doesn’t stop me doing anything in life (in fact I’ve just spent a week away on a group tour and was absolutely fine!) but its rumbling away in my brain most days and I find weekends particularly anxiety inducing (might be the toddler!) It feels like a little cloud that stops me being fully present.

The first time I was on sertraline, it was for anxiety and worked VERY quickly. The second time it was more for PND so not anxiety but worked very well. This time, I’m just worried that although I’m improving it’s much, much slower. I really don’t want to up the dose, the side effects are awful and I’d like to better manage anxiety in my life to avoid going on it over and over in life.

I guess my question is, if I’m moving in the right direction (mostly) could I still see an improvement from sertraline or have I reached full effect 7 weeks in? And perhaps it’s just a demanding life with a toddler, work and the world in general making it take longer to improve?

Any thoughts much appreciated! Thanks.

ps. Pretty sure the change in season isn’t helping!
