I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place at the mo.
I have a DP who has struggled mentally for a few years now. They are under a team of doctors but due to patient confidentiality I don’t know what’s going on. I have spoken to them in the past but it DP who needs to engage with them.
DP came off their meds, supposedly with the agreement of the doctor but I’ve recently seen a decline in their mood.
I have asked them to go back on meds but they are saying they don’t want to as it causes them to put on weight and they don’t want to do that.
Personally, I find this a cop out as I know what happened in the past (staying in bed for days, self medicating just to sleep, they don’t take the prescribed dose of sleeping meds for a few weeks to save up for this)
So as not to drip feed, their behaviour during these episodes is to be nasty to me and our children but appear to be everyone else’s best friend until they self medicate and then we are covering for their lack of interaction.
Can anyone give me direction on how to deal with this and explain my concern to DP without coming across as being unreasonable or making the situation worse!
