Advice & hand hold needed

Following a breakdown last year I have been on 150mg Sertraline.
Much needed at the time and really helped.

However, I am feeling so flat and lazy. I feel like I should try and start tapering off.

I spoke to my GP who didn't seem very helpful. He said cut down to 100mg and in a few weeks cut down again.
I said I thought that maybe too much and was thinking of 125mg for a month then maybe down to 100mg.
He just replied "whatever you think is best".

Im so frightened because of all the things I've read regarding brain zaps etc.
I haven't been taking care of myself but feel the ads are adding to my lack of motivation.

Can anyone offer any advice please?

A drop from 150 to 100 will be a lot, esp if you’ve been on it for a year. Going down by 25mg will be better. The good thing is, if you go down and find your withdrawal symptoms are too much, you can take the previous dose and those symptoms will resolve immediately.

I was reducing once and had hideous nausea, and went back up again and was ok straight away. I got a pill cutter and cut the 25mg pills in half and went down really slowly.

Your dr should be more supportive and if you need that support could you find another GP.

Also it’s always possible it’s the wrong medication for you and swapping could be an option. Again your GP should be guiding you through this.

Good luck and hoping you’ll feel better soon.

Thank you @FlyingUnicornWings

Yes I thought dropping 50mg was far too much.
I have started today cutting my pill so taking 125mg.

I don't think I need different medication, I tried them all before Sertraline and this was the only thing that helped.

@Chick70 I hope you feel better soon. Take it slow and look after yourself.
