Can you see visibly SEE depression in strangers?

I have occasional periods of intense depression and whenever I do I get really paranoid that strangers can actually see it in some way. Like a furrowed brow or just a more abstract general aura of anguish. Whenever I'm in one of these periods I feel so guilty about potentially upsetting people with my worried face or 'aura' (whatever that might mean) that I just keep my head down or avoid going outside altogether until it's dark.

I just wanted to know if you think you can SEE depression visibly? Even if they have neat and ironed clothes/hair/good hygiene etc

I think some people can pick up on other's emotions, depressed or not.

I'm very empathetic so 9/10 I pick up on peoples energy.

Just concentrate on yourself and being well, sod what anyone else thinks..depression is hard
