Crippling work anxiety

It’s making me quite literally dread my job. Every single day I go into the office not relaxed, feeling uptight. I feel like every thing I say I embarrass myself with. I struggle to speak in meeting, will shake beforehand (Zoom is worse).

In normal life, I am fine. At work it is like it brings out some sort of fear.

what do I do?

That doesn’t sound normal OP, how long have you been in the role?

PeachesAndTea · 17/10/2023 21:30

I’ve been in this role 6 months.

I was exactly the same in my previous two jobs.

my retail jobs I had when I was at uni never felt like this. I didn’t really come from much growing up, first of mg family to go to uni and get a degree. I moved to London and worked in two very well established companies in my profession.

im now working in a different city abroad and have a fantastic role. I get told all the time how fabulous it all sounds.

It’s like I feel like I’m not valid and I am not good enough to be here.

Impostor syndrome. You're not alone, it's a thing.

Imposter syndrome OP. It's absolutely a thing, and because it's a thing, there is support and resources available to help. Some workplaces also offer coaching and mentoring services to help build confidence as well.
