Just a backstory , I suffer quite badly with anxiety but have controlled it for many years .

Just recently I have been through a lot of stress , I've been planning my wedding which is due to go ahead in 5 weeks but alongside this is lost my dad in June who was working so hard to walk me down the aisle , but life didn't work out like that .

A couple of weeks ago I noticed a large lump in my left breast , I should add that I do have generally lumpy breasts anyway with the left being the worst .

I've been to the doctors today and she's referred me to the breast clinic which I know is standard procedure, however this has ramped my anxiety through the roof and I'm absolutely terrified I've got breast cancer :(

All with mt wedding being 5 weeks away , I am so anxious and stressed.

I suppose I'm just wondering if anyone has had the same thing and it has turned out to be something benign x

Hi OP, I had something similar with a smear test that came back abnormal many years ago. I was so frightened that it'd be cancer and the fact that I had to wait three months before having a follow-up just made the anxiety worse. It turned out to be nothing after all.

Another time my mum had to have a biopsy done on a lump she'd found in her breast. Again it turned out to be benign, just some kind of fatty tissue.

I know it's easy to say but please try not to jump ahead to the worst scenario. You're grieving the loss of your dad and, besides the grief itself, his passing will understandably have made you hyper alert to any potential health problems. Not to mention the anticipation and possible stress of your upcoming wedding.

The important thing is that you've sought and got help quickly and you're now in the hands of the people best placed to help you. If the anxiety really is all-consuming, please go to your GP and tell them what you've told us here. They can help you.

Do take care of yourself and good luck.

I had a lump which turned out to be fine. The breast clinic were wonderful.

Congratulations on your wedding. Try and focus on that rather than worrying about your lump.
