Hi
Think my mother had mental health issues. Think my 15 yo daughter has some. Think I have some.
Did anyone else have this? How did you cope? Help.

Yes it can be hereditary. My mum had MH issues throughout her life, very severe at time ( hospitalized in the 1970's ). I would say my childhood was very difficult at times, she did some very odd/ concerning things when unwell. I have got through life with low level anxiety affecting everything really and have had a couple of mini breakdowns. Now much better on anti-depressants. My dd also suffers with anxiety at times and I really hope she is not going to get any worse. I also have 3 ds's but they seem fine so far. Whether there is a heredity link or whether my mh issues are caused by upbringing I don't know.

Lots of people, I won't say most, but personally I'm sure it's not far off that, have had or will have some degree of mental health problems throughout their life.
It's not as uncommon as you think.
And it's not due to something anyone has done, I believe that it's the sign of a healthy brain being forced to deal with something very unhealthy.
It can be hereditary, although I'm not sure if it's genetics or the simple fact that some traumas do get passed down the generations.
Treatment depends largely on what kind of illness you're dealing with, but the first step is to talk, openly, about your fears and struggles, with trusted ones and a medical practitioner if required.
My local NHS service does a self referral for CBT, it helped me immensely in the past when I was dealing with acute anxiety, maybe Google to see if there's one in your local area too.
