Antidepressants and CBD oil

I am hugely depressed with massive anxiety. It's been going on for 2 months and I am at the end of what I can cope with.

Was prescribed citalapram but had awful side effects. Doctor has now prescribed venaflaxine but I'm nervous of taking it due to side effects.

I'm on full hrt from Newson health.

I'm just wondering whether anyone takes cbd oil for anxiety and what's the best one?

I'm signed off work after being suicidal on Monday. I literally can't cope. I've been to the doctors countless times and no further forwards. Even contemplating getting sectioned as I don't feel safe.

Please can anyone help?

What happened 2 months ago?

Life just got unmanageable- started having panic attacks in the office and huge anxiety. It's not gone away. It's got worse to the point I can barely leave the house

The problem (or one of the problems) with panic attacks is that they can happen without apparent warning and will send the body into such an extreme flight or fight response that it can feel as though you're going to die so, as well as being incredibly unpleasant they scare the shit out of us.

When you look back was there a build up of stressors at work or at home (or both)? Often a series of seemingly small issues can build up until the mind becomes overwhelmed and triggers a panic attack; dealing with those problems one by one puts you back in control of your emotional health. Other triggers include not getting enough good quality sleep, not eating or drinking enough and poor physical health.

The good news (if it can be framed that way) is that panic attacks are not fatal; you will always survive them. Just knowing that can help people to cope with them and - in the same way that they become worse the more you fear them - they become less powerful once you accept that it's not actually going to hurt you.

Have you been referred for therapy?

Hi, OP. It sounds like a really difficult time for you right now, sorry you're going through all this.

CBD oil is reportedly helpful for some people, but there isn't really a huge evidence base on it, and there is lots of variance in the products available.

It sounds like you are experiencing quite acute anxiety, I'm not sure that CBD will be enough to get you through that. Although it might be worth trying in conjunction with other things, it's probably not the best thing to rely on solely.

And antidepressants are a nightmare with the side effects, I get you - it takes a long time to find the right one and I know it's a bit scary, but honestly, it is worth persisting. It will be more effective than the CBD for where you're at right now and the acute symptoms you are experiencing.

Are you also getting any support emotionally - counsellling, or someone in your life that you can talk to, etc?

It looks like I might be going somewhere residential for a bit. I’m broken, suicidal and can’t see a way out.

ive had therapy, aa meetings, doctors etc. nothing has worked.
