I've successfully treated several phobias - spiders, flying, driving, snakes. The vast majority of phobias start in childhood or as the result of a particular incident . The only fears we're born with are loud noises and being dropped; everything else we learn along the way and can be unlearned.

What is your phobia? (you don't have to say!).

OK. So what happens is that your subconscious mind created an overwhelming fear of cats (or more specifically, that cat, then followed by a blanket fear of all cats) based on that incident and it is now doing everything possible to ensure whatever happened can never happen again by keeping you away from cats. Your conscious, logical mind knows this is irrational but your subconscious overrides it. Remedial hypnosis/hypnotherapy would help rest the SC within a couple of sessions.

Yes, I have a personal experience of stopping phobias. As a child I was hysterically afraid of spiders, as an adult I'm not keen on heights but going skydiving just to prove to myself that it's fun!!
