I've been referred to the community mental health team.
It's for ptsd.
I'd been having private therapy for an Ed and this was recommended due to not been able to afford any more private treatment, my GP referred me.
Im so nervous. Im worried it won't go well. I had been referred and accepted on NHS for ED but it was an awful experience and I didn't actually receive any help. They made it worse.
Im really worried this will be more of the same 😬
Should I cut and run and try to scrape money together for more private therapy? Or should I go along with it?
Any recent experiences of NHS for ptsd?
This is so stressful right now.

I understand why you want to run (I've often felt like this). I've had ptsd for 9 years and have had some not great support. However after a 5 year waiting list I've just started emdr and although it's hard I think it's the first thing that has helped. So from my experience nhs care is very mixed. I decided I'd give it a go but if it wasn't working I'd run. I don't think it's going to cure me but if it helps a little (which nothing else has) I'm sticking with it for now. I think that's the problem with mh care, you wait ages and then if it's not the right treatment for you you have to go on a waiting list for something else. I've also stopped all my medication because my gp wouldn't alter it (and it wasn't working) because I was waiting for mh treatment (5 years!) And so I feel like I'm just teetering on the edge because no one takes responsibility for mh care. So I'd go in with my eyes open with no expectations, but I understand why you have worries.

You will be better facing your fears and trying to reprocess your troubles in my experience. Trying to lock them away doesn't make them go away. I have also found talking therapies to be very helpful. But they did make me worse before I started to get better. GL
