Propranolol - How do you take yours?

I’ve always suffered with Anxiety but it has been particularly bad over the last few weeks due to a good few life events. I would prefer to avoid anti depressants as they have upset my stomach in the past (Sertraline) I have been prescribed Propranolol which I understand you can take when you feel it’s needed or as a course. The packet says take 3 times a day (40mg) and I would rather not take such a high dosage.
How do you guys take yours? As a reactionary drug or daily as a course? I asked the GP and understand either option is ok.
Thank you

I take mine for a specific anxiety: which is driving on A roads or motorways. I usually know when I'm going to have to do this so will do this about 30 minutes before setting off. I also take it to ward off a migraine if I get one when the first symptoms appear. If you take it in the late afternoons or evenings it can stop you sleeping though.

I was prescribed 10mg 3 times per day, but I only take them on an as needed basis. Usually just one takes the edge off things, but if not I take two.

NB I'm a bit wary of them in the colder months as they affect circulation in extremities and I get bad chill blains.

I have also been prescribed 10mg up to 3 times a day - I don't really understand the very low does as everything I have read indicates the 40mg x 3 would be normal.

I have only taken it a couple of times and it's taken the edge off but not much

@comedownwithme , I think the 40mg may be when it is prescribed for blood pressure? Or possibly they start you on a low dose and increase it as necessary. I react quite strongly to most medication so I've never felt the need to ask for a higher dose. It's good knowing that I could take 4 if I needed to though.

I have 10mg for specific anxiety inducing situations - public speaking, flying, driving on motorways, anywhere where I feel trapped. If I feel like it could be a really intense situation then I take 2 x 10mg

That's an even higher dose, the info definitely says 40mg for anxiety

I take 1 40mg tablet in the mornings, i don't take it for anxiety though, but for my migranes! I am prescribed to take 2x 40mg tabs a day, however have found over about a year if taking them that taking that too high of a dose makes me feel very faint, and unable to sleep well. So i reduced it to 40mg, which has really helped :)
