Panic and extreme thoughts.

Week 5 on duloxetine and yesterday was the first bit of the day I felt no panic. Felt numb from about 4pm onwards - a relief. Went to bed and slept really well but woke to heart beating out my chest and drowned in sweat with negative thoughts.
It's so hard to persevere and fight on to get to the full effect of the meds. I'm just so tired now.

Pleased to hear you are having some positives with this medication. But it would be worth highlighting the negatives to you doctor to be safe. I tried Duloxitine, but unfortunately had a severe reaction and had to stop taking it. GL on your journey.

@DRS1970 what we're your reactions if you don't mind me asking?
Had my dose doubled yesterday and he wants me to wait out another 4 weeks for full exposure x

What are you panicking about? I joined a meditation class and it really helped me with controlling panic. Still take the meds obviously.

Dawn1331 · 17/09/2023 10:23

@Zebdya had anxiety since I was wee and I'm now 46, a lot of the time it's just a rush of panic with no reason - I'm just so tired

Do you think perimenopause might be affecting it too OP?

If this is a long term issue with no obvious medical cause like vitamin deficiencies, then I recommend trying meditation. It teaches you how to control your mind, shut down racing thoughts and focus on breathing. It helps me a lot. Sorry I know this doesn’t really answer your question about meds, but it might help.

I also like those “panic talk-down” videos on YouTube, it helps me a lot to watch them when I’m panicking. This is my current favourite https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yYTg6vrDeKc

@AtrociousCircumstance yes definitely! I thought maybe my hrt was making it worse but the Dr said no and to keep on it.
It just feels like it's never ending x

I had quite extreme problems, albeit a rare reaction. I couldn't sit or lay still, I had a constant urge to keep moving, to the point it was really distressing and exhausting, as I was unable to rest or sleep. I also had psychotic symptoms, I was seeing and hearing things which were not there, and this was causing me to be hypervigilant, and this had not previously been a symptom of my bipolar. As I say, these were a rare reaction so don't be alarmed, or convince yourself it will happen to you, as it is quite unlikely to occur. Hope that scratches your itch of curiosity. Feel free to PM if you want to chat more.
