Sertraline - start taking before holiday?

I’ve been prescribed 50mg Sertraline after going through a particularly rocky patch with low mood/anxiety. This has improved in the couple of weeks since I first reached out to GP but I still think I want to give it a try. I have 8 weeks left of maternity leave and would love for it to have ‘kicked in’ by then.

However, we are going on holiday next Thursday. Very lucky, a week all inclusive with the aim to just chill out a bit. I’m soo worried about starting before it and it ruining the holiday as I’m aware the ‘positives’ of taking it might not have started by then.

Does anyone have any advice? I’m aware everyone is going to react differently but more interested in a ‘what would you do’ type answer, particularly from those who might have some experience with it!

thanks so much xx

Personally I would wait until after the holiday in case of side effects . I didn’t really have any going on it but some people do suffer .

Not medically trained; but as someone currently taking it, my suggestion would be to try a half dose for a day or two and see if you have any side effects. I’ve been on 25mg for two weeks and have today started to go up slightly (37.5) with a view to going to 50 in a few days.
