Sertraline & Anxiety rollercoaster

I’m currently on day 6 of sertraline and the constant feeling of being on a rollercoaster is draining. The swirling feeling in my stomach and the anxiety is always there.
The first few days the brain fog, couldn’t focus on any 1 point that was going around my head and the shaky feeling were horrible.

I suffer with health anxiety and had been doing so well for months without any medication but then a routine smear appointment arrived and the irrational thoughts began so I started back up on the sertraline again.

From my last experience on sertraline I know they work but the combination of worry about health and will they work again this time is hard.

Does anybody feel the same?

Hello.
Day 13 for me… for anxiety too.
What dose did they start you on? I’m 25mg.

Idontwant2 · 11/09/2023 21:48

@TreeHuggerMum1
I’ve started at 50mg which last time worked great for me so I’m hoping it’ll be the same this time around.

Perhaps half the pill for a day or two and then go back up to 50mg. My GP said I had to do at least two weeks on 25 before dosing up…

Starting Sertraline is rough for the first couple of weeks. Common for anxiety to spike for a short while. I definitely felt worse initially but it settled down.

Mornings are the worst but then it carries on a lower level all day 😫 until about 6pm when it finally settles

I’ve just re started on 50mg, mornings are awful for me, major anxiety. I know they work but just need to get next few weeks out of the way

Idontwant2 · 20/09/2023 13:32

Day 15 for me now and the side effects settled by day 8 this time around, still have some anxiety in the mornings but it seems to be settling in around a hour and it’s not as bad as it was at the start.

I’m starting to feel like myself slowly again and I have a check up at the doctors in around 3 weeks.

@millymoo1202 Keep going, it’s hard at the beginning and I could of easily gave up in the first week even though I knew they would work eventually also.

How are you both doing now?

Idontwant2 · 25/09/2023 21:28

I’m getting there, I’m on day 20 now I think.

the anxiety is improving each day so I’m just taking each day as it comes, still taking 50mg and will be for the foreseeable.
@TreeHuggerMum1 how are you getting on?
