Increase on medication again

I’ve been on SSRIs for years, most recent one being fluoxetine which has worked well for me. I had my dose decreased right down to 10mg (from previously being on 30) with a view to eventually come off it.

Recently the depression has come back on, which is due to outside family events which I have little control over. I’m currently awaiting therapy but I’m unsure whether to increase my dose again or not, or if will even help because my low mood is linked to uncontrollable outside factors. I really don’t want to feel like I took a step forward and then 2 steps back but equally my low mood is having a real impact again. I also wanted to decrease dose due to side effects such as reduced libido etc (but I don’t suffer from any other side effects apart from this) anyone have any advice?

There is no shame in medication. If you feel yourself slipping backwards, I’d suggest speaking to your GP and being honest. Increase your dose again and try again in a year to taper off. Don’t put yourself through it.
