Private Online Therapy Options

Hi all,

I don't usually live in the UK (am British though) but am currently here for several months. I am going through a work crisis which has unearthed a lot of unresolved anxiety on my part and I would actually like to resolve them (or work towards that) once and for all. I'm having daily crises at this point and am terrified of doing work related things.

I had 2 pretty bad sessions with a therapist a few years ago in the UK. Bad in that I didn't find they were useful beyond having an hour just to talk about my issues and didn't help me develop practical skills to deal with my problems.

I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for online therapy options? I don't know what to google.

When I get back home (in the country I usually live in) I plan to sort out therapy there, but I need something in the mean time.

Given that it's online would it be better to start working with someone from your home country, rather than the UK, so that you can continue (if necessary) when you go back?

That's a good point! However, I looked at that option - but my insurance (that could cover the cost) in that country only covers it if I am physically in the country! So I'd end up switching even if I went with a different provider that would take me whilst I'm abroad temporarily.
There's also the time difference which is not great. Honestly, would rather speak to a British Therapist the more I think about it!

Happy to PM you a list of practitioners, all of which work online; there maybe someone who is based in your home country for continuity of the same type of therapy when you get back.

Most therapists work online these days. You could look on Counselling Directory, the search gives the option to look for those who offer online work. It sounds to me you're looking for a solution focused or CBT type approach if you want practical skills.
