I have just got back from a so-called weaning "party" organised by surestart.sorry i am being critical, but it certainly was not anything that resembled a party. i have to say that everytime i go to these things i come home feeling worse, when i do it my own way i feel happier. i am not suprised so many new mothers feel under pressure, the amounts of leaftlets we are given, do this and do that. the pressure to make your own baby food, well i will be heading straight for the jars. what about the people who have other issues in their lives, money problems, relationship problems etc etc i am sorry but making baby food is the last thing on my mind. but you know what cause i feel under pressure i will probably do it. very sorry just wanted to rant. went for my first session of CBT yesterday doesnt seem to have done much does it! things do get better dont they?

My rule is if it hasn't got either booze or a clown then it isn't a party.

I can totally understand people who only use jars, my head is spinning with all the weaning dos and don'ts. Have you thought about the baby-led weaning approach - no pureeing necessary? Ultimately, your baby needs you to be well and happy far more then he needs you to be pureeing organic cauliflower.

And yes things do get better

gw i am so with you there. weaning party? oxymoron if ever i read one. there does seem to be a conspiracy of 'you're never doing enough' when your baby first comes along. love is the most important thing, we're all just muddling along trying to do our best. and it gets better all the time!

New Mummy Yep things get better CBT is not for everyone I found it made me start looking at how I thought changing how I feel is quite a different matter but knowing is part of the battle.

I did really well with CBT, it has really enabled me to get all my thoughts in order at times. I have no experience of weaning parties, I used a mix of jars and home made.
I never found any sort of group where I felt anything but a freak. I felt under pressure to take dd along to groups, when i got there I did not know what to say or do, dd would be unhappy too, and then I would feel terrible that I was such a failure. I gave up going to them.
