Hi all,
I have been on Amitriptyline for nearly 4 years, they have really helped me with my anxiety, one night i started to have panic attacks and heart palpitations and sought the doctor's advise, she advised me to go on a drug called "Mirtazapine" I'm worried about the transition as i don't want to experience panic attacks whilst it gets into my system, i'm also worried about taking them together, i'm currently staying on the amitriptyline but it won't be long until i run out. I guess my question is has anybody had any experience going from Amitriptyline to Mirtazapine...Thank You

Hi
I don’t have experience changing from Amitriptyline to mirtizapine but I am in the process of cross tapering from Amitriptyline to Escitalopram.
I’m in the first week of the switch over and so far it’s not been too bad.
I have taken Mirtizapine in the past but I felt it made me a bit sluggish and I put on a lot of weight while taking it.
Have you tried any SSRI,s before?

Thanks for your comments, no, the only thing iv'e ever taken has been Amitriptyline and for about 4 years iv'e not had any trouble with them, i used to drink heavy but i haven't drank for nearly 2 years, personally, i'd like to carry on taking them but the nurse (Doctor wasn't available) has prescribed Mertazapine.
