How do you control your anger issues?

Embarrassed to admit that I have trouble controlling my anger, but I do especially in the car. I had angry parents and don't want to be like that myself. What can I do? Would I benefit from a councillor/ therapist?

What triggers the anger?

Could you describe your specific issues, as in what you usually do when you're angry?

Well in my case a diagnosis of complex PTSD and a lot of therapy and medication. I also worked out with my psychiatrist that I wasn't happy living with a partner so I prefer to live on my own these days and I feel so much calmer.

@Eyesopenwideawake I just think things that would only slightly annoy other people really really piss me off.

@Meeting I mean I'm not violent and I rarely shout (unless in the car, I do get pretty bad road rage), I think my anger is more internal.

@Gettingbysomehow I've never seen a councillor but have been contemplating it recently for many reasons. I had a pretty unstable upbringing with parents were violent and did shout a lot.

What thought patterns are going through your mind when you get really, really pissed off? What sort of thing triggers the anger?
