Sertraline dosage change

I’ve been on 50mg of sertraline for 4 weeks for anxiety, depression and feelings of being overwhelmed. First 2 weeks were awful but then gradually I started to feel better. Went back to the doctor at 4 weeks for a review and he suggested upping the dose. I was feeling much better and my husband even said he was getting the old me back but to be honest I have felt so low for so long that I don’t really remember what normal feels like so I went with what the doctor said. Have been on 100 for 4 days now and getting anxiety and headaches again, worried I’ve messed up a good thing. Should I ask to go back to 50? I was only on it 4 weeks so likely hadn’t reached the maximum effect yet but the doctor said it was a very low dose and that I’d benefit from an increase? Just asking for advice really, are these just temporary side effects and should I stick it out or go back down?

50g is generally the starting dose and I don't think many people stay on it for very long. I always had a few days of side effects when I upped my dose when I took it but they usually went away quite quickly. I was on 200mg for about three years.

I have gone back to 50 for the last 3 days and felt rubbish until today when it’s starting to even out a bit so touch wood I’ll feel the benefit again soon. I may need to go up to 100 at some point but since 50 was helping I think I went up too soon.
