These are really common side effects in the first 2 weeks, especially the lack of appetite, nausea, shaking especially waking in the night. Night sweats are really common too and feeling hot constantly (a strange feeling if your usually a cold person).
The worst of the effects eases off after 2 weeks but if your really not managing the GP may switch you to an alternative one. But they all come with side effects unfortunately.
It does stop, but the first couple weeks make it feel like stopping them altogether.

Also get these burning sensations in my legs at night that keep me up but my legs are cold , also during the day my hands or arms will feel like they are on fire on the inside of my body , don't know if that's just a common symptom of anxiety though

Did this get better? I'm on Day 18 and its a very rocky road to say the least!

Alwaystired2023 · 13/08/2023 12:54

It will all pass, you should talk to your GP about the dose maybe take a lower dose and build up or similar. But I think these side effects are v common and they will pass

Thank you! Day 20 today. Bad anxiety, but yesterday was almost the best day I've had in years! Tomorrow will be the start of week 3 so hoping I'll be one of those it kicked in then for.

Hi op, I have been on citalopram for 6 years, at various does. Currently at 20mg. Side effects in the first few weeks are pretty awful but normal.

I have developed a new side effect of anxiety though which is a burning feeling inside my body, it washes over me in waves and my torso goes really hot to the touch. The doctor said it was unusual but harmless, but I definitely never had it pre-meds, It's never went away.
