Sertraline side effects

Just after some advice please. I started 50mg Sertraline about 5 weeks ago.
it’s been so helpful with my mental health. I had side effects to begin with such as nausea and dizziness but nothing too severe.
the problem is the night sweats and vivid dreams. I’m taking it of a morning but these just aren’t settling down and I’m waking up more tired than when I went to bed

Do the vivid dreams and night sweats eventually stop or am I stuck with them for now?

Those symptoms are worse if you don't take them at the same time each day. They generally settle and for the vast majority have no side effects at all.

I have been or sertraline twice - both times the night sweats went after about 6 months. Good luck!

Thanks. I take at the same time each morning. Hopefully they’ll soon wear off. Have been considering stopping as really struggling with the disturbed sleep but they have massively improved my anxiety.

Sweating. I've been in sertraline for years so didn't connect it until I overheard my neighbour complaining to her husband about it, and then when my dp started it and had the same.

The dreams are odd. Sometimes I don't dream for a year. It's better than the night terrors I used to have though.

I've been on sertaline about 3 months and I didn't connect the night sweats with it! ( I thought it was because I could be perimenopausal)

A year in and they haven't stopped for me, sorry. They were worth it though but I'm ready to return to some better sleep now so I'm about to start weaning off.

Try taking it at nighttime?

continentallentil · 27/05/2023 22:25

I would try taking it at night time - I can see you’d worry the dreams could get worse but it might fix it.

Lastminutebride · 28/05/2023 07:24

I’d not thought about taking it at nighttime. I guess I assumed that’d make sleeping worse. Willing to give anything a try though. Thanks

I am on this now about 6 weeks and last nigt and the night before no sweats although it did not really feel like sweats to me but when I woke up I had this feeling like I had been in the sea and was salty all over if that makes sense at all. Anyway the past couple of nights I have had none of this and the thoughts in my head now are so much more positive than before I took the pills so something is working for me.

Best of luck with it. We all need help the odd time x
