Citalopram to sertraline

Hi I was previously on 40mg citalopram for 14 years I felt they were not working as I would get breakthrough depression every year but only for a couple of weeks
After a terrible breakup I dropped again so doctors decided to switch, going 25mg then 50mg then 100mg sertraline.
As sertraline goes up to 200mg is that the equivalent to 40mg citalopram.
It's really confusing and worried that I shouldn't have changed as the trigger was the breakup
My anxiety in the morning is terrible
Have I gone down if I was on top dose citalopram ? And now on middle dose sertraline?
Any advice

Hey, im going from citalopram to sertraline too, also been on citalopram for 14 years.
Im going to do the switch Monday.
I feel they are just not working anymore too so they want me to try them.
I was told that switching could increase everything for the first few weeks, so maybe thats whats happening?

Hiya, I just wondered if you went up any higher? Or did you stick at 100mg and wait it out?
