I am struggling with severe depression and anxiety, I can’t stop crying, I just can’t seem to pull myself together, I have been bleeding for 4 weeks constantly recently started Prozac but it’s making me feel worse. I just want to feel normal again. Please help.

@Pleasehel I am also perimenopausal and feel down, brainfogged and permanently out of sorts and despite HRT, haven't really felt much improvement. I keep thinking 'is this my life now?' I really feel for you but you are most certainly not alone. Can you speak to your Dr or another professional?
I send hugs and good wishes. xx

Thank you for your reply and I’m so sorry you are going through this too, it is the most dreadful feeling, I got up today and said to myself I’m going to try and get on with my day, but here I am sitting on the sofa in tears yet again, scrolling the internet constantly looking for something to help. I just want to get back to the old me I’m not living I’m just a mess. Xxxxx

Oh you're me! I've been bleeding for two weeks and this weekend have had a full on nervous breakdown over our new kitten. Did your gp mention hrt? Consensus seems to be we need that not anti depressants.

Please please please go and talk to someone about HRT. I was feeling the pressure (nothing as bad as you mentioned though) and was prescribed HRT last summer. It felt like a lifting of all the heaviness I'd been feeling my sleep got better my aching joints got better and my periods became regular as clockwork.

I appreciate it doesn't work for everyone but it really is worth the pain of trying to get a gp appointment. I was seen by an HRT specialist prescribing nurse,

Lots of luck

Has your dose been adjusted? I started on 1mg but went up to 2mg. A friend of mine started on patches but changed to tablets with testosterone. Sometimes the first pass at prescribing is only that

I strongly recommend you go to a private peri-menopause/menopause clinic as soon as you can. I went through exactly what you are, the absolutely crippling anxiety, bleeding, and HRT took it all away. AD's like prozac are not recommended to treat peri-menopausal issues because, like you have found, they often make your symptoms much worse.

I'm so sorry you're going through this. It's so awful.

@Possibilitiesxyz thank you. I have an HRT review next week and am hoping for some adjustment. Fingers crossed, eh?

And fingers crossed for you @Pleaseheland everyone else under this cloud. Hugs.
