Starting Citalopram - handhold

After a pretty rough start to the year my health anxiety came back with a vengeance. I soldiered on for a few months until I went to GP and asked to be put back onto Citalopram (came off it c.1yr ago).
I remembered how rough I felt on Citalopram first time around so I gently increased my dose from 2.5mg (yes crumbs), and now to 10mg. The benefit is that the side effects haven't been brutal (but still experienced :/). I'm wondering if anyone else took this approach?
The downside does mean that im obviously still experiencing anxiety at times where I might be further along if I'd gone higher sooner.
I would love to hear some positive stories (only), especially from people who found 10mg sufficient. It worked for me last time, though admittedly took about 8 weeks to kick in
