i have just been put onto 50mg a day of sertraline for my PND which has been present since DD birth really, she is 10 weeks old.

i only started taking them on thursday but i have noticed a change in DD behaviour since then. she is sleeping longer between feeds and easier to settle at night whereas before she has been really colicky and unsettled most of the time.

i dont know if this is coincidence or linked to me taking the tablets or if im reading too much into things due to my current state of mind.

has anyone else taken sertraline while breastfeeding and noticed any difference in their baby?

the changes arent bad ones i just worry that shewill lose weight if she starts going longer between feeds although shes not being as sicky after feeds either, also i suppose im worried that the tablets might be affecting her and doing her harm although i dont want to stop breastfeeding

i took them while breastfeeding my ds, and didn't notice any effects in him and i fed him for 2yrs while i was on them. i'm sure she'll be fine, they have been tested and are safe for breastfeeding, try not to worry, and if you're anything like me they will do you the world of good

you can always mention it to gp at next check up, they should be seeing you every couple of weeks to start with

yes fed ds for a year on sertraline.
Remember it does take a while to work but once it does you will start feeking better and better.

Your anxiety is probably part of the the PND, so try and relax, they wouldnt rx it if it wasnt safe.
BTW- ds is now 3 and happy, well adjusted little boy. Good luck.
