Coffee helping anxiety

About a week ago I started getting really bad reflux so cut out my 3x day coffee. The reflux improved but over the course of the week was replaced by increasing nausea, racing heart and anxiety.

Today I decided to reintroduce my daily coffee. Within a hour of drinking this I feel so much calmer, my fitbit says my heart rate has dropped 20 points and I no longer feel nauseous.

I am wondering if anyone else has had this. Everything online says that caffeine increases anxiety however I am finding the opposite. I was wondering if it could be withdrawal affects but after 1 week I would have thought these would have subsided. Any ideas?

Caffeine withdrawal

Caffeine withdrawal can last up to 9 days.

Try switching one of your cups a day to Decaff. Then substitute another for Decaff after a week... It eases the withdrawal symptoms from caffeine. Worked for me, I am caffeine.

I’d say caffeine, unless you have ADHD in which case stimulants have the opposite effect.

Caffeine withdrawal, often the headaches are extremely back too, but once u get through 2 weeks it’s fine.

@Findyourneutralspace That is interesting, I may be, not diagnosed though. I do find that coffee makes me sleepy rather than alert, could this be related?

I am not sure about caffeine withdrawal, I have not had any headaches at all over the past week. Symptoms have purely been anxiety, heart racing, feeling panicky and if anything have increased since I last had a coffee a week ago.
