What will happen in terms of reporting to the authorities? I haven't been involved in or perpetrated any crime but am concerned due to leaving abusive ex some years back this will flag something. I'm a single parent. I think I may have clinical depression. Thanks.

Hey - well done on thinking of reaching out. The first step is always the hardest.
I went to my GP and said I barely want to leave my bed, cry all the time and have no motivation to do anything. I was referred for talking therapy and put on a low dose of antidepressants, but they didn't involve anyone else at that point.
Unfortunately I downplayed it massively as I was scared, so I didn't tell them I'd been self harming and having suicidal thoughts. I bottled it all up and just hoped the pills would help, but it only masked it and, a couple of years later, I admitted how bad things were.
I now see a psychiatrist and have a crisis team who I can call for support when needed, and honestly I feel so much more supported. They did call social services as I'm the main carer for our children, but the social worker we had was fantastic.
I really hope you get the support you need. It's not the easiest path but it can and does get better 💐
