Hello,

I suffer so badly with anxiety. I am currently on a waiting list for counselling for high CBT but it sounds like the waiting list is huge and they can’t give me any time frame of how long it might be.

I’m just wondering if anyone can share any tips on how they deal with their anxiety as I really need to try and find some ways to help while I wait?

Hi I’m really sorry to hear you’re struggling. Anxiety is so overwhelming and time consuming, it really does suck the life out of you. Cbt helped me but as you, there was a waiting list for it. One thing I took away from it that massively helped me was keeping a diary. I take my diary everywhere with me, I was encouraged to write down when I felt I was becoming anxious. I write down what I can see, I can smell, I can feel. This helps to prevent an attack. I then write down what I was doing in the moment thag it started and if I can, I write down what is making me feel that way.
This helps me to get it all out of my head and written down. I then take a deep breath and think about the people I could speak to that can help me in that moment- so if I’m in work then I’ll go to my manager and explain how I’m feeling. She is now great for listening to me which helps ease my nerves.

Sorry to hear this, anxiety is awful. I found a mindfulness course helpful. And positive stuff on you tube. Also tell your gp.
i finally gave into sertraline and it’s been v helpful. I still turn to wine too much tho.
