What's the benefit of coming off anti-depressants?

So I have accidentally gone two weeks without any of my daily 40mg of citalopram. I have been a bit short tempered with the children but no other noticeable side effects. Should I carry on? Or collect a new prescription asap? I hadn't intended to do it but as I feel okayish I'm wondering whether to continue.

I did this once when the postal strikes delayed delivery. I had a few nightmares but nothing too bad. I would speak to your GP first and maybe you can move to 20mg for a while as you’re not meant to go cold turkey with citalopram. All the best.

Thanks @chloworm. I know I shouldn't be going cold turkey but now I have I wonder if I should carry on, I will speak to my GP when I can get an appointment!

Yes speak to your GP. My DP sinks back into depression after a month of his so he knows to stay on them. But people are different

Ahh ok, that's interesting @BHRK but difficult for you and him. My situation was referred to as situational depression which has now passed so I'm wondering if I can carry on and see how it goes. I will enter the GP appointment lottery in the morning.
