I have been taking teva brand of sertraline for a year. the chemist recently changed my brand to generic & ever since i feel like its not working & getting withdrawal symptoms - especially bad headaches. does anyone have experience of a change in brand causing withdrawal symptoms or feeling different?

They all contain the same amount of active ingredient as listed on the packet. I would say it's likely to be psychosomatic but if you are struggling definitely go and discuss it with your GP.

I definitely have. I agree it must by psychosomatic because I can't see why it would make a difference but there was definitely one brand that gave me awful side effects.

Hi when my pharmacist changed brands I thought I could tell the difference also. I googled it and others said the same. Anyway now I seem to get different brands every time I go in and I don't notice the difference anymore

They all have the same amount of active ingredients. Some do have different 'exipients' those are the other components of the tablet that are not active - some people will find they have a reaction to those e.g. some will contain lactose, or sorbitol.

Teva is a generic manufacturer and makes many different types generic medication, so they haven't changed from brand to generic just given a different generic medication.

Lustral is the brand for sertraline.

Unfortunately it's not always possible to get hold of the same generics (or the brand for that matter). I'd ask not to be given the one you have now again. It's likely you have reacted to one of the other ingredients.
