Hi there, I have been on 50mg of sertraline for 6 ish years. I have spoken to my GP & they have suggest I increase the dose to 75mg as I am feeling very low & anxious at the moment. A lot of my anxiety stems around health, & I have a real phobia of being sick.

When I first started sertraline I was very nauseous & was sick for a few weeks. My question is, has anyone increased their dose before, & am I going to suffer the same side effects? I'm frighted to increase them if I'm going to get the sickness again.

Thank you for reading x

Hi, sorry to hear you’re feeling rubbish at the moment.

I am on 150 mg of Sertraline, increased from 100 mg a few months ago. I had absolutely no side effects.

As you have been on it for so long hopefully the increase in dose won’t give you any side effects as your body will be used to this drug.

I sympathise with you on your phobia of being sick, I am the same.

Hope you feel much better very soon.

When I increased from 50 to 100 I didn't have the nausea I experienced initially with the 50 dose. I'm starting on 150 tomorrow so hopefully that will be the same, I hate the sickness feeling. Good luck x

Thank you both so much for replying. You have made me feel much better. I am hoping they will kick in pretty soon, feeling super crappy! Do you have any idea how long it takes for them to kick in? Even if they just get rid of the nasty anxious knot in my tummy, that'll be something!!! X

After a couple of weeks I went into mega chilled mode lol. I still got episodes of anxious palpitations and anger but much better, it literally saved my life. Now I'm at the stage I need the dose upped and starting 150mg tomorrow. I hope it works for you, it's the best thing I've done. Came off Duloxetine to change if that makes a difference xx

I’m a week into upping mine from 50 - no side effects at all but docs said likely to be a month til I feel my mood improve

Hopefully they won't take too long then. The intrusive thoughts and OCD is the worst 😪

It really helped my thoughts of trauma and past events i continually went over and over. It was as if they blended into the background, softened at the edges and just faded, that's my best description. I've not been awake at night with racing thoughts and scenarios since December. The OCD I can't comment as I don't have it diagnosed but I have some little rituals and obsessives that I don't worry about bad luck now if I don't do them. Xx

I think I am feeling a little calmer today. I am really hoping this is the start of a better time ahead. Thank you again for your replies, you're all very kind.

I don't think I have had any side effects apart from sleeping for 12 hours straight!!
