Baby name anxiety

We have to choose a name for my newborn daughter and this is giving me anxiety. My DH, elder daughter( 9years) and I like a name but we feel that this name probably won't suit her. Infact, I am not sure about other names wheather they will suit her or not. This anxiousness has taken all over my life. I feel as if I keep thinking of names throughout the day. Will my DD grow into her name? Is it PPA? I really want to settle down for a name ASAP.

You are right to identify this as a mental health issue and nothing to do with the name as such. If you and your DH have picked a name and you like it, that’s what matters. I personally don’t believe that babies “suit names”. Their name is what they are called -it needs to be nice and something that will work at all stages of life- and names I suppose have an element of the parental hopes and desires for the child. But their name in itself is nothing important.

To be honest, if we chose names that "suited" newborn babies, we'd all be called things like "squishy" and "cutie" and "little one"! I've never seen a newborn and thought they look like any particular name. Babies definitely grow into their names! And soon you won't be able to imagine her as anything else. Go for a name you love and don't worry about it suiting her right now - she will grow and change so much.
