Are these panic attacks?

Hello all,

Just need somewhere to vent/talk. I have been suffering with ‘panic attacks’ for around 6 months. At first I was diagnosed with an overactive thyroid which is now pretty much controlled with medication. I know an overactive thyroid can cause anxiety etc but recent blood test levels were pretty good and GP said the panic attacks are not because of my thyroid. I have also had various blood tests and a holter monitor. The holter monitor showed nothing abnormal and on my bloods my ferritin was low at 16 so now taking supplements, otherwise nothing.

These attacks are just awful, I palpitate, stomach churns, feel as if I am leaving my body/room, my head starts to thump and I get pressure in my head, tremor internally and generally feel very on the brink of my body just betraying me.

Does anyone else have this and could just offer some reassurance? Surely something would of come up if it were anything other than panic/anxiety? I am just not convinced it is, which I know sounds ridiculous.

Thank you 🙂

Certainly sounds like panic attacks. Once you've had one you start to dread them which, ironically, makes them more likely as you're on full alert. Bear in mind that as horrible as they feel, they can't hurt you - it's a bit like turbulence on a flight; scary as fuck but the plane (i.e. your body) is still safe and can tolerant the shock with no damage.
