Need time off work…

I’m desperate right now to take some time away from work to help my mental health. I know this is wrong but a week won’t kick it and I need a fortnight and a bloody good reason to tell work.

My mother is in poor health and struggling so I support her, my son has ADHD so again supporting him. Who supports me? Myself and this is my time.

Being honest with work wouldn’t pay off as MH issues is looked down on.
Im going to see the GP tomorrow anyway so will talk about how I’m feeling.

Am I wrong in doing this and making something else up? God knows what I’ve no idea…..

I took time off with stress and the gp note simply stated "unfit to work" no further details. I don't know what people at work thought, nobody asked me outright. I would have just said its leave for a private medical reason that I don't want to discuss. I am quite scary and pretty brazen though.

@Dox9; I didn’t realise they could do this. I’m in a professional role and I really don’t want them to know I’m stressed as I am. I know with a couple of weeks I’ll be able to sort myself out. Thanks for your reply, appreciated.

I can relate to this OP as I’m going through issues causing me stress. Some of the stress is work related but I don’t want this known amongst them. I too was hesitant of what the sick note would say, although I plan to self cert for the first week. Again, not sure if I’m obliged to say but I won’t be.
