Medication for anxiety

Have always suffered from anxiety but have generally been able to manage it, with propranolol and, at various times, counselling. But it dawned on me recently just how much it still affects my life, especially work. Others would see me as highly functioning, but work causes me so much anxiety, sleeplessness, intrusive thoughts, and I live with cripplingly low self esteem and imposter syndrome. Would any other sort of medication help?

The antidepressant Sertraline can be of benefit in some patients with anxiety, OP, but you need to have a discussion with your GP, who is best placed to help you and decide treatment options, rather than with random people online.

Can't comment on medication but remedial hypnosis can help enormously with anxiety. CBT can show you how to weed your mind of maladjusted thoughts - hypnosis can rip them out by the roots.

I could have written the same OP. I started on Sertraline 2 weeks ago and it has already made a difference.
I would speak to your GP, I wish I had years ago
