I’m on day 2 of my anti depressants today and my anxiety is going crazy. I feel more anxious than I did before starting them. I could cry I don’t see a way of this getting better please give me positive stories?

I found that it took a week or so for things to start levelling out. If you don't feel like you can cope that long, there are other similar medications that you might tolerate better, if you can go back to your GP?

Give it time. It can take a few weeks to feel the benefits.

As the PP said, it can take a few weeks. Take a big breath in, hold it, and then breathe out all your stress over this whole situation. It’s a viscous circle, if you’re anxious you will think more anxious thoughts; and vive versa.
Be in the moment and give it time. Know that stuff will be okay. X

It does get better, I would say after about a week or two do me. Be kind to yourself, make sure your loved ones know this is what to expect and that it will calm down. Do some meditation, go for a walk, have a bath or read a book. These all helped me at the time xx

Hugs to you - I've been there and it's horrible. For some people SSRI-type drugs (like Citalopram, Sertraline) can make anxiety much worse to start with.

It does pass if you're able to ride it out, and then the benefits of the drug kick in and you start to feel better.

An alternative would be to go back to the GP and ask to start low (10mg) and go up slowly, letting the anxiety settle before you go up a dose level. This will take longer to get on top of your depression/anxiety but should mean the bad anxiety from the drug is less severe.

Good luck, you'll get there Flowers

It does get easier, but the start is so difficult! I actually over dosed on about week 3 and realised I needed to up my dose from 20 to 30. After that I was ok. Stick with it, it's worth it once everything has settled xx

Stick with it. I am on day 15 , days 5 and 8 were awful but each day is another day closer to feeling better . I was on them for 8 years previously and stopped them last year, huge mistake as 2 weeks later my panic attacks were bavk and increasing daily anxiety. I’m on 10mg but will prob increase to 20 but dreading the side effects again. I had such bad palpitations and heightened anxiety, couldn’t go yo a shop myself, dizziness , cold feeling , insomnia but it’s gradually reducing . You can get through it , day by day and you’ll feel so much better
