I've been reading her blog and tweets since the news that she was failed. I know that she died last year, but due to the inquiry it's been in the news now. It's quite scary to think she wanted to end her life but then ended up with horrific injuries but still alive. I'd been having suicidal thoughts and now realise it's just not an option.

Beth had borderline personality disorder. She’d only been receiving therapy (DBT) for 4 months or so. BPD carries about 10% risk of suicide completion, if it’s not treated. DBT is a clinically proven and effective gold standard treatment for borderline personality disorder. BPD is recoverable with treatment, age and therapy.
You are right about suicide attempts not being effective. They hurt the person and those left behind beyond words.
