Anxiety meds?

Is there such a thing that can be taken sporadically or I am likely to be looking at an 'al(ways) or nothing' situation?

Mental anxiety doesn't really bother me but when I get the physical symptoms it really bothers me sensory wise as I am autistic! The chest anxiety is the worst and I just wondered if there is a med that works for here and now rather than an all the time thing. I know nothing about these things and have always been anti medication but it's getting harder to cope with recently so I am just trying to find out what I can before I waste the doctors time.

Propanalol is what you're looking for. It's a beta blocker that can be taken as and when to prevent the physical symptoms of anxiety. I've used it before and it works wonders but does nothing for the mental side of things.
Ask your GP about it.
Breathing and meditation can also help.

Yes, beta blockers, so long as you don’t have any underlying blood pressure problems

Ah this is great, it does exist! I'm cautious about them pushing me to anti depressants so have been reluctant to see the GP - I will make an appointment next week if I can.

Thank you
