Sertraline vs fluoxetine side effects

I've been on the phone to my GP about my anxiety (lots of health worry atm). I've not been on anything for a few years but was previously on Fluoxetine for several years. I don't recall having any major side effects going on them or coming off.
GP has prescribed Sertraline but she did ask me first which I'd prefer. I thought I'd try something new but since then, I've read aboout the side effects and it worries me. I'm not sure if I can get it changed to Fluoxetine.

I've had nausea and weight loss for a few months (under investigation) and I really don't want to feel any worse.

Has anyone tried both and which has fewer side effects?

I'm interested to know myself so just bumping for you. Sertraline and citalopram were both awful for me, fluoxetine is the one I'm yet to try ..

Thanks Namechanger, maybe Fluoxetine will work for you. I seem to read really bad or really good things about Sertraline. With Fluoxetine I was only a fairly low dose 20mg but it kept my head above water.

I think different meds work better for different people. Fluoxetine works for me.

Sertraline has been brilliant for my anxiety. My head felt in the clouds for the first three weeks but then it's worked great, although I did get bumped to 100mg.

Would starting off on a smaller dose maybe not have so many side effects? She's going to review me in 2 weeks.

I had side effects from sertraline in the first few weeks, mainly headache and tiredness but I'm very glad I stuck with them.
Years ago I had fluoxitine and found no benefit, definitely get some benefits from sertraline, I really don't want to give it up.
Currently on 150mg a day.

Thank you, guess I'll give it a go and report back! 😆

Have tried both and found sertraline the worst one for side effects.
fluoxetine has been much better. Been on it over a year now with no issues other than feeling a bit sluggish. But this is better than the constant anxiety and panic imo
